Ode to Artificial Respiration
O breath of life, in plastic guise,
Thou mighty force that never dies,
When lungs do fail and hearts grow weak,
Thy touch of hope is all we seek.
With rhythmic beat and steady flow,
You bring back those lost in shadow,
In emergency's fierce and dark night,
You shine as a beacon of life's bright light.
Through tubes and masks, you make your way,
To where the struggling patient lay,
Your gentle push, your careful breath,
Defying the cold hand of death.
Amidst the chaos of the ER scene,
You stand out, noble and serene,
A true hero in the medic's hand,
Bringing back the fallen to stand.
So here's a toast to thee, O art divine,
Your value beyond any golden mine,
For when all hope begins to wane,
You come forth, life to sustain.
O breath of life, we praise your name,
In stellar halls of medicine's fame,
Artificial Respiration, strong and true,
We salute the life you renew.
